GWS is developing a regionalized macroeconomic model for Chile

On behalf of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) Anke Mönnig, Loreto Bieritz, Anett Großmann, Frank Hohmann und Marc-Ingo Wolter of GWS develop a regional macroeconomic model for Chile (FK01D16030) in co-operation with the Chilean partner Patricio Aroca and his team from the Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez, Viña del Mar, Chile. 

The aim of the three-year project is to analyze the dependency of the Chilean economy on copper mining and to develop strategies for a sustainable future development of the copper mining industry in Chile.

A meeting of the German and Chilean project teams in December 2016 in Viña del Mar, Chile, marked the kick-off for this project. The schedule and steps for the first project phase have been discussed. Until mid-2017 a national macroeconomic model  shall be developed, which will give answers to the copper-specific questions with respect to taxation, water and energy costs as well as the development of prices on the world markets.
